Our History

In 1986, MC Freight Systems was started by Ken McCargar, who had worked with various companies in the transportation and logistics market of Western Canada. He realized that most businesses were overpaying for the transportation of their freight, but that they didn’t even realize it.

MC Freight was born, to help those small and medium sized businesses compete against multinational corporations that were negotiating large freight discounts. By consolidating the buying power of all of MC Freight’s customers, we were able to negotiate heavily discounted freight rates that were passed on to our clients. Over time, our team grew as we added skilled logistics professionals with expertise in varying fields. This broad base of knowledge allowed MC Freight to expand its service offerings to include: In 2007, Graham McCargar purchased MC Freight Systems from his father Ken, ensuring that MC Freight Systems would continue to operate within the culture and with the soul of a family-run business for many years to come. At the same time, MC Freight began pursuing an aggressive growth strategy, beginning with the creation of its Freight Forwarding division in 2009. The addition of ocean and air freight services perfectly complemented the already successful freight brokerage operations of MC Freight, and our clients quickly realized the many benefits of collaborating with one single partner for the planning and execution of their entire supply chain. Today, MC Freight Systems continues on its path of constant growth, with the goal to become the premier logistics company in Canada, helping its customers improve their supply chains around the world.

MC Freight exists because your time is valuable.

Sure you could employ a freight forwarder, an LTL trucking company, a truckload carrier, an intermodal company, and a small parcel courier company. But how much time will you spend chasing each of them for answers? How fragmented will your supply chain be? Are you really getting the best rate with any of them? With MC Freight, we collaborate with you to design a customized supply chain model that takes advantage of lower transit times, improved communication, and ultimately lower costs. Working with one logistics partner will save you time, and give you full shipment visibility from pickup to delivery.
